Local pool operators met with the Zanesville Muskingum County Health Department to discuss keeping pools clean this summer.

Proper pool equipment use and chemicals were topics in the seminar. Making sure public pools are safe and clean is a priority for the Health Department. They check each one monthly to insure that pools maintain standards in place. Registered Sanitarian Adam Dickerson says swimmers can be at risk for infection without the proper standards of cleanliness.

The temperatures are beginning to heat up which means area pools will soon be opening up.  To make sure you stay safe at public pools this summer, the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department hosted a meeting with pool operators today at the Muskingum Recreation Center.

The annual battle against mosquitoes is underway in our area.

The Muskingum County Health Department says since last  Friday they have had 80 complains from residents about the pesky bug.

"We're spraying based on a complaint basis. We've been going out in the evenings depending on the amount of complaints we get last week. We went out two times and we'll be going out again this week until we get all the complaints caught up," Sanitarian Adam Dickerson said.
