The city of Zanesville and AFSCME Local 1573 have agreed to a new labor pact.

On Friday the union voted 31 to 28 in favor of the contract.  Mayor Jeff Tilton said only two-thirds of the eligible employees placed a vote. 

He said the two sides met earlier this month with State Employment Relations Board Fact Finder William Lewis.  City council approved the fact finder's recommendations during Monday night's meeting.

City officials and the Fraternal Order of Police/Ohio Labor Council agree to terms of fact finding recommendations.

At a Zanesville City Council meeting earlier this month the council voted to accept the fact finding recommendations from the state employment relations board.

Last Thursday, the Police Union, voted 14-4 to also accept the terms. The deal does give raises but because of changes with the pension pick up, Mayor Jeff Tilton said it evens out.

One local group is calling on gubernatorial candidate John Kasich to release his tax returns.

Retired members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Subchapter 150 are asking for Kasich to release 10 years worth of tax returns and to disclose the details of his employment with wall street investment firm Lehman Brothers.
