The son of a coal miner's dream to honor his father and other fallen miners came true at a memorial unveiling on Saturday.

Sam Bennett has worked for the past three years to get a coal miners memorial erected to remember the hard work and dedication of coal miners in Coshocton County. The idea started off small, but eventually grew into a community project.

On February 14th, The Ohio State University, will celebrate the 100th birthday of one of their most beloved coaches, Woody Hayes. Wednesday, outside of The Woody Hayes Athletic Center on OSU's campus, a memorial statue of Hayes created by a Zanesville native was erected.

Zanesville's First Friday Artwalk will be held this week.

Alan Cottrill of Zanesville will be among the featured artists. He has been working with clay since 1990 and is well-known for his bronzed sculptures which are on display around the country and even overseas.

The Veterans Memorial Committee still needs a little more money to meet its goal.

The Veterans Monument in downtown Zanesville is almost finished. Muskingum County Veterans Secretary Treasurer Jeff Dittmar says they plan to have it completed by November 6th, but still need more funds.

"We still need  $13,400 to complete the project and we're still hoping that the people will still understand that we're in the final phases," Dittmar said....
