Typically after a big football game the coach gets drenched with Gatorade.

But Friday just hours before the big game, members of the administrative staff at Zanesville High school, including Coach Grandstaff, were drenched with ice water for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. In turn nominating their rivals, Newark High School, who they play Friday night at 7:30.

If jumping in the pool isn't for you maybe dumping a bucket of ice water over your head can help you cool off and help A.L.S. research at the same time.

Another local organization completed the Ice Bucket Challenge Monday.

This time the Highland Oaks Health Center in McConnelsville participated. Highland Oaks is a nursing home and currently has one resident diagnosed with ALS. That resident's son, Casey Blackburn joined Highland Oaks's employees in completing the challenge Monday afternoon.

The president of Bi-Con Services, Inc. Denny Patterson, was challenged to complete the Ice Bucket Challenge, so he and his company decided to take it to the next level.

The Guernsey County company set out just two and a half days ago to attempt to raise $5,000. They ended up with over $19,000 in donations.
