Looking out for your pets' health during the summer heat is just as important as looking out for your own.

Animal Shelter executive director, Jody Murray, said the recent heat wave can be dangerous for your pets. He advises people to pay attention to their animals when they are spending extended time outside.

A few things that he recommended is keeping your pets' water bowl filled with fresh water and not keeping them outside for long periods of time. Walking them can...

The Animal Shelter's Pet of the Week, Smokey, is in need of a forever home.

The schnauzer-mix has been awaiting his new home for almost a month now. Executive director, Jody Murray, said he is a fun-loving dog, who gets along well with both people and other animals.

The 4th of July means fireworks and holiday parties, but unlike people, pets don't always enjoy the loud noises associated with these celebrations.

Animal Shelter Executive Director, Jody Murray said pet owners should always take proper precaution when it comes to their fury friends.

"Fireworks and pets just don't mix, so don't take any of your pets to fireworks outings or anything like that," Murray said. "In fact, take some precautions of keeping them inside, if...

It's time for this week's pet of the week. The Animal Shelter is featuring a one-year-old boxer mix.

Rescue Coordinator, Charity Stevens said Jaxs is a very active dog, and that he's definitely a dog for an active family.

The Animal Shelter has its very own Easter bunny for someone to adopt.

While not an actual bunny, Bunny the beagle is this week's pet of the week. Bunny's former owner dropped her off at the shelter about a week ago. And Executive Director, Jody Murray, wants the 15-year-old beagle to get adopted soon.

"She's ready to go," Murray said. "We'd like to get her out as soon as possible. She's seemed to have gotten a little depressed since she's gotten here at the...

Your dog may have fur, but that doesn't mean they are immune to the freezing temperatures.

According to the Animal Shelter's Executive Directory, Jody Murray, we need to pay special attention to our pets when the temperatures drop so drastically.

"Yeah it looks like cold forecast for the next week or so and I would just like to remind people when temperatures get this cold to do some special things for to keep your pets warm. Extra bedding outside, even when it gets this...

The temperatures are falling outside which means you might need a new furry friend to keep you warm.

Starting Monday, December 1 you can get your dog registered in Muskingum County.

It is required under the Ohio Revised Code to have your dog registered with your county. Deputy Auditor, Katie Settles, said it's that time of year to get your new dog tags. You have from now until January 31 to purchase the tags without a late fee.

To help promote the sale of the tags this year the animal shelter is cutting the adoption fee of a 2-month old puppy in half.

"This is a great...
