Pups of all shapes and sizes were able to create their own artwork at the 2nd annual "Dog Day."

Gallery 'G' invited the public and their pets to North Valley Bank Saturday afternoon for a day art-filled fun, in an effort to raise money for a good cause. Local artists featured their animal-inspired work, while the Zanesville K-9 Unit entertained the crowd.

Jazzy, a six-year-old terrier mix, is one of the Animal Shelter's newest pups up for adoption.

The community came out to play cornhole for the Animal Shelter Society Saturday evening!

When summer comes around, the Animal Shelter Society is ambushed by cats looking to be adopted. And to encourage adoption, all cats have a reduced price all summer.

Muggsey is a three year old beagle mix, and he's been at the Animal Shelter for two weeks now.

Executive Director of the Shelter, Jody Murray said Muggsey is a very friendly dog who would be good for a family with young kids. Muggsey is available for a reduced adoption fee of $75 and is up to date on all of his vaccinations.

Jody Murray from the Animal Shelter Society stresses that picking out a pet is a huge commitment and it is important to think about every aspect involved in owning an animal. He suggests looking 5, 10 even 15 years into your future to see if your lifestyle and finances can accommodate the potential addition to your family. The Animal Shelter wants everyone to be able to shout out "Bingo."

The MASS Bingo Hall on West Main Street reopened to the public in March. Since that time the Animal Shelter Society's been working to reinvent the facility connecting it more to the shelter.

One hundred percent of the proceeds stay in the county to help the shelter keep the costs of adoption and wellness clinics low and allow the shelter to continue to provide other services to the community.

With changing technology and newly opened casinos in the state, the MASS Bingo Hall on W. Main Street has been temporarily closed since December. President of the Board of Directors for the Animal Shelter Society, Stephanie Hill, says the board decided to shut down bingo to evaluate how they could do things differently.
