Some local animals are looking for a place to call home.

The Animal Shelter in Muskingum County is holding a special cat adoption day Saturday. The first ten cats adopted will be only $25.

"Our cat population over the last few weeks has steadily been increasing," said Executive Director Jody Murray. "Rather than waiting till we got full we thought it might be a time to have some special fees."

'Tis the season to welcome a furry friend into your family.

On Saturday the animal shelter in Muskingum County hosted its Christmas Open House.  Board President Stephanie Hill said there's no better time to open your home to a dog or cat in need.

"A lot of kids like to come in and they can start working on their parents and making suggestions for the dog or cat that they would like to have for Christmas," said Hill.

The Animal Shelter is having its Christmas open house this Saturday and they're hoping lots of animals will get a home for the holidays.

All cats, dogs and other critters at the shelter are available for adoption. Thanks to generous sponsors, We Lov Pets and Invisible Fence, the first twelve adoptions will be at half price.

The new executive director of the animal shelter in Muskingum County is already making progress.

The animal shelter in Muskingum County is reviewing applications for a new executive director.

Shelter Board Director Stephanie Hill had said that Larry Hostetler was terminated for financial reasons.  Board member Holly Voltz said the shelter continues to look for a leader who is ready to fundraise and take the shelter in a new direction.
