The National Pain Foundation has declared Tuesday September 15, a day for awareness about the pain caused during and after shingles.

Shingles is a disease caused by re-activation of the virus that causes chickenpox. Around 90 percent of adults have had chicken pox and it puts them at risk for contracting the disease at anytime without warning.

More than 160 people were on hand Tuesday morning for the official kick-off of the 2009-2010 campaign for the United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan counties.

At the "Community Leader's Breakfast" in the Zanesville Welcome Center, campaign organizers announced their goal this year is 1.9 million. They are trying to raise $950,000 in contributions and 950,000 volunteer hours.

Zanesville Police say the driver of a tractor trailer has been cited in a Tuesday morning crash .

According to police reports, 51 year old David Edwards of Somerset was attempting to turn from 9th street onto Marietta street just before 5:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Authorities say Edwards took the turn too fast causing the tractor trailer to flip onto its side and spill its load of grain.

He received minor injuries in the crash.

Two of the men arrested last week in connection to a methamphetamine lab in Perry County appear in court Tuesday morning.

54-year-old Robert Wise and 59-year-old Donald Miller will be arraigned by video on charges of illegal manufacturing of drugs and illegal possession of chemicals to manufacture drugs.

Miller also faces a felony count of possession of methamphetamine.

A third suspect, 49-year-old Brian Barnes will be arraigned at a later date.

Four people charged in connection to last month's fatal Newark stabbing appear in court Tuesday.

33-year-old William Snyder, 45-year-old William Withem and 29-year-old Beth Doty will appear in Licking County Common Pleas Court at 8:30 for arraignment.

All were indicted on charges of aggravated murder, murder and aggravated burglary, in the death of 25-year-old John Stouffer, August 26th.

A South Zanesville mobile home is a total loss after a fire.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. at 2525 Marion Road.

The South Zanesville and Newton Township Fire Departments responded to the scene along with the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office.

South Zanesville Fire Chief Norm Mansfield says the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but he did say the Red Cross has been called in to help the owner of the mobile home, Ed Middaugh.

Zanesville City Council is tabling the Interskate Skateboard Park issue and the Gant Municipal Stadium issue yet again.

Zanesville Mayor Howard Zwelling says Council wants to wait and to see if any grant money will be coming the city's way. So, Council tabled the Interskate Skateboard Park issue for two weeks.

The Zanesville Fire Department will be blocking a portion of 4th Street-in front of its building- tomorrow and Wednesday, as it conducts its annual confined space refresher training.

Chief Dave Lacy says the training is made possible thanks to Cleveland State University, which sends down firefighters from Akron to help put on the training.

It has been about a year since the remnants of Hurricane Ike swept across the state of Ohio, leaving many without power and damage to numerous homes.

Muskingum County EMA Deputy Director, Jeff Jadwin, says not much has changed in planning when it comes to these types of situations.

"The job is a 24/7 job. You got to be here and be available for the people around the clock. We work on plans when we're not out doing stuff for storms or flooding, " says Jadwin.
