Police have arrested a 12-year-old in connection with multiple suspicious fires on Wing Street last week in Newark.

Newark Police and Newark Fire worked together on the investigation and were able to collect a significant amount of evidence. As a result, authorities executed a search warrant at 60 Wing Street Thursday and arrested the 12-year-old suspect who reportedly admitted to setting the fires.

 The South Zanesville Fire Department says a Saturday fire was the work of an arsonist.  It happened around 8:00 pm at 2275 Ridge Road.  Fire investigators say when they arrived on the scene of the moble home it was fully involved in flames. Police allege a Newark woman repeatedly set fire to her home and tried to frame her estranged husband, including for one blaze that trapped her and her children before they were rescued by police.

Amy Wilson, 39, is charged with aggravated arson. Her bond was set Thursday at $100,000. Wilson has no attorney on record.

The State Fire Marshals Office ruled a blaze on Chapel Hill Rd. in late February arson.

Now the Blue Ribbon Arson Committee is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for any information that leads to an arrest in the case.

The South Zanesville Fire Department responded to the blaze February 28 and discovered a mobile home fully engulfed in flames. The residence was unoccupied at the time. It was considered a total loss.

The Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating an early Tuesday morning fire in Muskingum County that destroyed a home. It happened just before 1:30 at 6780 Newark Road. A Coshocton woman is charged in connection with a fire last Wednesday.

The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office says 26-year-old Amber D. Edwards of Coshocton has been formally charged with Aggravated Arson, a first degree felony. 

The charge was in relation to the August 19th fire in the 800 block of South 2nd Street. Additional charges may be considered after review by the Coshocton County Prosecutor Jason Given.

The problem of arson in Dresden is real. Village council members met on Thursday to talk about offering reward money to help find the person responsible.

For five years the village has been dealing with the work of an arsonist. The latest fire was set at 95 S.Chestnut Street in January and Dresden Mayor, David Mathew hopes that offering a reward will encourage people to come forward with information.

Two juveniles have been charged in connection with a fire that destroyed a historic schoolhouse in Perry County.

Court officials say a 16 and 17-year-old were each charged Friday with one count of arson and four counts of burglary in the May 14th fire at the Old Bristol Schoolhouse on Marietta Road.

The State Fire Marshall's Office had been called in to investigate the fire which was later determined to have been intentionally set.

The State Fire Marshal's office has ruled one of Tuesday's fires on National Road as arson.

Spokesman Shane Cartmill says investigators have determined that the fire at a trailer home at 5971 National Road was intentionally set.

Authorities are labeling a late night fire in Zanesville suspicious.

According to Assistant Zanesville Fire Chief Dave Huey, a passing motorist reported the fire at 1016 Sharon Avenue shortly after 11 p.m. Monday.

Huey says when firefighters arrived on the scene flames were shooting out of the front of the home, which is where investigators believe the fire started. He says the fire is suspicious, because the home was vacant with no electricity.
