March 31st marks the 2nd anniversary for the recreation center. To celebrate, the rec is offers color contests for children of members and non members and many other cool incentives.
"We have different age groups 1 to 3, 4 to 7, and 8 to 12. People can stop in get the pages to color and back it in by the 23rd of March then we will vote on the winners. There will be prizes awarded for that. On April 2nd we have a community day....
The Muskingum Recreation Center is setting the stage for the Fred Taylor Memorial Gym Dedication.
The event will begin Thursday, August 27 at 5:00 p.m. and will feature NBA legends Jerry Lucas, John Havlicek, Bill Hosket, Joe Roberts and Mel Nowell. Bob Knight will also be present via video. Members of the Genesis Lifestyle and Fitness Center met with the Muskingum County Commissioners to discuss the transition into their new facility.
The Muskingum Recreation Center on the OUZ- Zane State campus is expected to open for current members of the Genesis Lifestyle and Fitness Center near the end of March and for the general public in early April. Organizers are changing their corporate and regular memberships options to reflect changes to the facility.
On Monday, a truck-load of 17 steel beams for the future natatorium made their way from Columbus to Zanesville. The massive beams were welded onto the recreation center and the executive director, Beth Chapman, says Monday was an important day for the community.
