 A girl was struck by a vehicle Thursday afternoon near Zanesville Middle School.

It happened around 3:00 p.m. near the intersection of Blue and Forest Avenue. According to the Zanesville Police Department, the girl was attempting to cross Blue Avenue when she was hit by a red sedan heading northbound on Blue.

The vehicle appeared to have hit her legs, and ZPD said she was transported by Community Ambulance to the hospital with minor, non-life threatening injuries. The girl...

Zanesville city workers have their hands full with various street and water projects beginning this week.

One of the items on the agenda involves construction on Blue Avenue.  The road will be closed from Adair to McIntire Avenues for at least two weeks.

Public Service Director Mike Sims said crews are resurfacing that section of pavement after underground subbase settling occurred.  He said the project will cost about $11,000 to complete.

Two teens are under arrest Tuesday morning after breaking into parked cars.

Zanesville Police Lt. Bill Shaw said the teens began breaking into the vehicles in the Blue Avenue area around 1a.m.

He said thanks to witness information they were able to find the 19-year-old and 18-year-old driving around and stopped them.

Lt. Shaw said they had taken CDs, cd players and phone charges along with other items.

Zanesville Police are still investigating the discovery of a plastic bag that contained materials used to make methanphetamine.

Officers were called to Blue Avenue just before 8 a.m. Sunday, after a resident noticed a white plastic bag full of plastic bottles, a box of Sudafed, and the smell of starter fluid coming from the bag.
Blue Avenue between Taylor and Somers Street was closed off during the investigation.

School are all open and running and it's a good time to remind drivers to pay attention to the speed limit.

Zanesville City Schools opened up Monday. Zanesville Police Chief Eric Lambes said drivers need to slow down and be cautious.

If you're driving along Blue Avenue in the next few weeks, you may notice one significant change.

The speed limit is being lowered from 35 mph to 25 mph. The issue was brought before City Council and members approved it on July 26th. It will affect the section of Blue Avenue from Taylor Street to the entrance and exit ramps of Interstate 70.

Zanesville Police are still searching for more information in connection with a murder Friday evening.

It happened at 1117 Blue Avenue.

Police Det. Sgt. Ric Roush says an autopsy was performed Sunday confirming 25 year old Brandon Smith died of gunshot wounds.

"The motive for this we believe may have been a robbery," said Roush. "There was some drugs and drug paraphernalia also found at the victim's home at the time of the incident too."

A Zanesville man is dead after a shooting on Blue Avenue.

The Zanesville Police Department says they were called to 1117 Blue Avenue just before 11:00 PM last night.

"A female who lives at that residence came home and found that her son had been shot and killed," says Detective Sergeant Ric Rousch with the Zanesville Police Department.

Zanesville Police are still looking for a suspect in the Sunday robbery of the Speedway on Blue Avenue.

Police say around AM, a young black man in a blacked hooded sweatshirt and jeans showed a gun to the clerk and stole an undetermined amount of cash from the gas station.
