The Muskingum River Advisory Council held a meeting on Monday at the Yacht Club in Zanesville.

An increase is expected in water traffic as well on Ohio's inland lakes over the holiday weekend.

Labor Day marks an end to the summer boating season. Officials will be out patrolling for any violations. So far, 13 people have died in boating accidents this year. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources says half of those had alcohol involved.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is concluding its two-week "Operation Dry Water" campaign.

During the busiest boating weekend of the summer, it's reporting no boating-related fatalities across the state and only a few accidents.

Officers did arrest 11 people for operating a boat above the legal alcohol impairment limit. Another 17 boaters were arrested for being impaired, and 9 people were received violations for using drugs.

You may see a familiar face on the Muskingum River this summer.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office will be back on the river after a donation to fix the department's broken boat motor.

"We tried to put the boat out last year and we had a problem with the engine," said Sheriff Lutz. "We've had some demand for it to be out on the river. It's not out on a regular basis, but it's out on the holidays."

The Summer months provide the opportunity for many city improvements.

Tomorrow Zanesville will begin a two-month-long paving project. The project is funded completely through stimulus money and includes Ridge Avenue, Dryden, Pershing, and Dresden Roads.

The warm weather is a huge draw for summer water activities.

That's why the Ohio Department of Natural Resources will be offering 70 boating safety inspections across the state through June. Several of those inspections will take place at water sites in Salt Fork State Park, Dillion State Park, and Seneca Lake during the weekend of May 22nd and 23rd.

Inspectors look at the condition of safety equipment on the boats and make sure they are readily accessible in case of an emergency...

A Columbus couple is in good condition at Grant Medical Center after a boating accident last evening.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. on Buckeye Lake near Fireman's Island in Licking County.

Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Watercraft spokesman, John Wisse, says an 18-foot bass boat, carrying 47-year-old Brian Trudeau and his wife 41-year-old Cindy, collided with a 21-foot pleasure boat, carrying 23-year-old Justin Morrison and his brother 27-year-old Tom Huskey....

Two state parks in Southeastern Ohio will soon receive money to help fix or maintain boating facilities.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is dispersing more than 376 thousand dollars to about 35 locations statewide. Dillon State Park is looking at about 20 thousand dollars heading its way and Burr Oak State Park can expect about 50 thousand dollars.

All projects are scheduled to be done by the end of June.
