The Cambridge Post of the State Highway Patrol investigates a two vehicle crash that took place Sunday afternoon and leaves one dead.

The Patrol said that 35-year-old Jody Bice, of Caldwell, died at the scene of the accident on US 22 near County Road 57. The Patrol reported that a 2005 Dodge 2500 Ram Truck driven by a juvenile went left of center striking her 2008 Chrysler Pacifica and forcing it off the road and into a guardrail.

The Cambridge Post of the State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian.

82-year-old Velmar Andrews from Canton was struck and killed by a vehicle on Saturday around 6:30 PM.  According to the highway patrol, Andrews was walking in the southbound lanes of Interstate 77 near milepost 52 in Guernsey County.  The crash remains under investigation by the highway patrol.

A Texas man arrested Friday by the Cambridge Post of the State Highway Patrol will be in court on Friday for a preliminary hearing in his case.

Troopers said they stopped with a disabled vehicle on Interstate 77 near Old Washington last Friday. The troopers said they detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. The suspect, 35-year-old Ernst Reis, of Plano, Texas was asked out of the vehicle and during a pat down troopers discovered two knives.

The State Highway Patrol said Interstate 70 westbound is closed Wednesday morning near the Gratiot exit after a semi rolls and catches on fire.

Troopers said motorists can expect the lanes to remain closed until at least 1pm as a diesel spill occurred on the bridge and the Ohio Department of Transportation assess damage done to the bridge.

Already traffic is backed up nearly two miles.

The Cambridge Post of the State Highway Patrol is investigating a man found dead Tuesday afternoon, hanging from a highway in Guernsey County.

According to the Patrol, troopers received a call shortly after 1:30 p.m. that the body of a young man was hanging from the overpass at mile post 52 on Interstate 77. The structure is over the Salt Fort Lake spillway.

The man has not yet been identified. The coroner and other investigators responded to the scene....

The State Highway Patrol said they'll hold an OVI checkpoint Friday in Guernsey County.

The checkpoint will take place from 8p.m. to 12a.m. on US 22 Glenn Highway near mile post 6. 

The checkpoint is funded by federal grand funds and is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

State troopers in Guernsey County will be out in force throughout the month of September to reduce crashes.

The Cambridge post of the State Highway Patrol will be heavily targeting roadways throughout Guernsey County in an effort to encourage safe driving. It's a part of their "Adopt a Milepost" initiative.

The Cambridge Post of the State Highway Patrol made a major drug bust on Interstate 70 eastbound Wednesday afternoon.

According to Dispatcher Ceculski, around 1:30 p.m. a trooper pulled a car over with Pennsylvania license plates for speeding near the 174 mile marker.

A State Patrol K-9 indicated there were drugs in the car and upon a search authorities discovered methamphetamine with a street value of $10,000 and drug paraphernalia.

A semi-truck driver was lucky to escape injury after a crash around 11:15 Thursday night that left his truck in pieces.

According Trooper Brian Neff with the Cambridge Post of the State Highway Patrol, Charles King of Girard was traveling southbound on U.S. 22 near the London Dairy when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road.
