An area fire department wants you to help them be a "winner winner" by purchasing a chicken dinner.

The Falls Township Fire Department is gearing up for their largest fundraiser of the year this Sunday. For seven dollars, you can purchase your meal ticket and help support the department.

When most people barbecue, they do it in the late afternoon or evening hours, but not for one local fire department...they were up at 2:30 Sunday morning prepping for a big day ahead.

More than 1,100 chicken halves were grilled by the Newton Township Fire Department with all proceeds going back into their operation. Last years barbecue raised about $10,000, providing the fire department with 35 walkie-talkies with each device costing upwards of $400 a piece.

Most people know Firefighters can take the heat when battling a blaze, but put an open flamed grill in front of them and watch out!

The Falls Township Volunteer Fire Department hosted their annual Chicken Barbecue on Sunday afternoon. The crew served up about 1,500 chicken dinners. One local resident, Dean Cole, said he makes a point to support the department by coming out with his family each year.
