Laughter and the smell of home cooked chicken filled the air at the Newton Township Fire Department Sunday.

The Newton Township Fire Department hosted it's annual chicken dinner at eleven today. The dinner is the fire department's largest fundraiser. Fire Chief Allen Deaver said they will usually raise between $3,000 and $4,000 each year. The Falls Township Fire Department is a winner winner thanks to chicken dinners.

The department hosted their 49th annual Father's Day Chicken Dinner fundraiser Sunday. Dinners including half a chicken, applesauce, coleslaw, chips, drink, and roll were available at all three Falls Township Departments. It's an event that fireman Jacob Waltemire says has been well received by the community.

A local fire department is celebrating Father's Day the same way it has for the past 25 years.

The Falls Township Fire Department had their annual BBQ Chicken Father's Day meal on Sunday. The proceeds from the fundraising meal goes towards providing odds and ends for the station.

"We use the money for various things it's more tradition more than anything else but this year we bought new software for our computers," said Chief, Mark Brown.

A group of local fire fighters is gearing up for Mother's Day.

The Washington Township Fire Department is having their annual Mother's Day chicken barbeque dinner this Sunday. The event started in 1967 and has continued ever since. Chief Gene Hanning says he plans for this event months in advance.

It's a Mother's Day tradition that the Washington Township Fire Department has held for more than 50 years, and people were lining up to get a taste of some grilled chicken.

Firefighters came in around four a.m. to prepare 14 hundred chicken halves, which they got locally from Phillip's Meats. So what makes that chicken taste so good?

If you would like to give your mom a great meal on Mother's Day, there's a local organization who can help.

The Washington Township Fire Department will host it's annual Mother's Day Chicken Dinner this Sunday at the fire department. Fire Chief Gene Hanning says they're busy each year, selling about 1,400 dinners.
