A Zanesville man is going to prison after pleading guilty to a rash of church break-ins. 32-year-old Scott Roberts was sentenced to 12 years in prison and ordered to pay over $10,000 in restitution. Judge Kelly Cottrill says ordered post release control for Roberts for three years. A  Zanesville man has pleaded guilty to charges in connection with a rash of church break-ins.

32-year-old Scott Roberts appeared Wednesday before Muskingum County Common Pleas Court Judge Kelly Cottrill where he entered guilty pleas to charges including breaking and entering , theft, vandalism and burglary.

Roberts was arrested in October in connection with numerous area church break-ins which dated back to July of this year and several home burglaries....

Area church members can now rest easy knowing the man suspected in a string of breaking and entering is behind bars.

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz said 32-year-old Scott Roberts of Zanesville is facing 43 charges that include burglary, breaking and entering, vandalism and theft. Roberts is suspected of being responsible for nearly all of the church break-ins since July 14th as well as a number of home burglaries taking place throughout the city and county.

A Zanesville Pastor is speaking out after his church was robbed a second time in two weeks.

Pastor Jim Miller said the Northside Church of Nazarene was broken into early Wednesday morning.  Miller said the first robbery happened two weeks ago, and he believes the same thieves are responsible for both break-ins.

"They have fingerprints and footprints, but so far those don't lead to anyone in particular," said Miller.

A rash of local church break-ins have authorities asking the community for help.

According to Sergeant Detective Ric Roush, Detectives with the Zanesville Police Department and Muskingum County Sheriffs Office are currently investigating nine Church Break-ins that have occurred since April... seven of which took place in July. Roush said breaking and entering numbers have been down overall this year with the exception of churches.
