A proposed budget by Governor John Kasich will leave a dent in the city budget.

The city stands to lose $345,000 in funding after Governor Kasich announced that he would cut support to local governments by $139 million in 2012 and $187 million in 2013.

The City of Zanesville's Budget Committee met Wednesday to discuss the upcoming city budget and ways to help reduce costs.

5th Ward City Councilman David Tarbert said the city could do a better job of keeping track of expenses and forecasting revenue. Tarbert said the city needs a way to look at expenses on a monthly or quarterly basis.

The village of Byesville can no longer turn to one local law enforcement agency for help.

The Village Council voted last night to get rid of the Byesville Police Department.

Police Chief, John Hornak, says that decision will take effect within 10 days.

The Byesville Police Department initially laid-off two employees last January, and now, Hormak says the remaining three employees will be let go.

Conesville residents will soon have to pay to have their trash picked-up.

About 150 residents will be affected by the change.

Skip Ferrell, of Skip's Refuse Services, says Mayor William Appis sent a letter to his company, informing him that the city didn't have the funding to continue to pay for the service.

So, starting March 1st, each household will have to pay 16 dollars a month to have their trash picked-up.
