Monday at City Council, the longest member, Ted Zakany, received a standing ovation after he finished his final night working for Zanesville.

Zakany has been a member of council for the last thirty years and during a brief speech he noted how much the Y-City has changed for the better during this time. Changes he mentioned he was happy about were new and stronger traffic light structures and the revamped 5th and 6th Streets that has given the Downtown area a new look.

It has been one week since the general election and Councilwoman, Ann Gildow walked away with the most votes for one of the three Council- at -Large positions.

Gildow said she is thankful to be re-elected because during her first term, she was still becoming acquainted with how things are structured at city council and now will be able to accomplish more. This is especially true with the newly elected council at large members who she will now be working alongside.

At Zanesville City Council Monday night, Crime Stoppers sought feedback from Council members.

The Crime Stoppers Watch is expanding within the city and county, and they are hoping to gain more members.

"We're going to be at the Muskingum County Fair at the Sheriff's tent and we're going to register new members of the county and the City of Zanesville," says Don Jones of Zanesville Crime Stoppers Watch.
