The Zanesville Civic League Community Center is making some upgrades.

The center is finally unveiling its brand-new gym floor and logo. The project cost nearly $50,000 to complete, which was funded through a grant from the city. Civic League Executive Director Howard Bailey says the old floor was aging, so it was time for change.

Over 1,000 area kids will soon be sporting a new pair of shoes.

It's all a part of the annual "Lace Up for Kids" program. Now that all the shoes have been collected, Wednesday began the preparations for the big giveaway.

An event called "Celebrate a Survivor" will be held on July 12th to raise funds for a fighter and to support a wonderful cause.

Amy Gaiters, is currently battling her second round of breast cancer. The banquet will run from 3pm to 7pm at the Civic League Community Center. They will have a variety of different ways for people to support Gaiters in her fight.

Children in Zanesville are reaching out to help those affected by the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary.

The Zanesville Civic League Community Center had an opportunity for children and adults to create snowflakes for the Connecticut elementary students. The idea came after a call was sent out from Sandy Hook to give their students a winter wonderland at their new school.

A local organization is honoring black history month and celebrating diversity - by eating food.

Blue devils "teamed up" to get new kicks ready for area kids.
