History buffs took a sail back in time down the Mighty Muskingum today.

The Zanesville-Muskingum County Convention and Visitors Bureau Hosted its 2nd annual Lorena Sternwheeler Civil War Reenactment. The Lorena made its way down the Muskingum at 10:00, 12:00, 2:00 and 4:00. While confederate troops stationed on the riverbed opened fire on the union held sternwheeler. We talked with Private Bob Daniels and his men right before their attack on The Lorena as he explained the strategy....

If you enjoy history and learning about the Civil War, the Zanesville-Muskingum County Convention and Visitors Bureau is planning a fun event just for you.

The 2nd annual Lorena Sternwheeler Civil War Reenactment will take place August 8th and 9th on the Muskingum River. Uniformed troops will be aboard the Lorena and along the riverbank putting on a show for the passengers to enjoy.

If you were in McConellsville early Saturday afternoon....you might have noticed something a bit out of the ordinary in front of the Morgan County Courthouse.

It was the 24th Annual Civil War Re-enactment. Each year the Morgan County Re-enactors Association line up as Union and Confederate soldiers. Re-enactor, Ernie Parnell has been apart of the Civil War display since he was eight and said, it's a hobby unlike any other.

The 21st century is getting a first-hand look at what life was like on the Civil War battlefield.

For 23 years, Morgan County has been the site for the reenactment of 'Morgan's Raid,' one specific battle in a series of battles that took confederate General John Hunt Morgan through Tennessee, Kentucky, and Ohio. Re-enactors surely look the part, but they also act the part as they bring history to life with booms from canons and smoke from muskets.
