Locals gather to kick off the season of Christmas.

The Greater Zanesville Singers celebrated their 29th annual Christmas concert.The choir members are all dressed alike in royal blue shirts and black pants. All in unison sang angelically. Their voices carried through the hall of Coburn United Methodist Church. The Songs of Christmas concert featured 13 Christmas carols. Choir Director, Kim Peadon said they have been preparing for this concert since august.

For the next couple weeks, kids will practice safety tips at Safety Town. 

The annual Safety Town opened at Coburn United Methodist Church Monday morning and dozens of kids romped through the mini city. Safety Town program director, Bethany Schiele, said kids learn many different safety practices while at Safety Town.

The annual, Suicide Awareness Banquet was held at Coburn United Methodist Church Thursday evening.

This was the 11th year for the event. We spoke to Jim Still-Pepper, Coordinator for Teen-To-Teen who told us people gathered from 6 different counties to celebrate and promote the human role in preventing those from suffering a death by suicide. Still-Pepper told us more about the evening.

A few area choirs came together to make a joyful noise Sunday evening at the 24th Annual Zanesville Handbell Festival.

The concert was sponsored by the Thursday Music Club and took place in front of a full house at Grace United Church on Shinnick Street. The performers played a variety of holiday and sacred tunes for the public.

It's National Collection Week for the international program, "Operation Christmas Child" through Samaritan's Purse.

A local church hosted a concert for a ministry whose mission is to help the Haitian people rebuild their lives.

Coburn United Methodist Church in partnership with Pure Heart and Max Plus Ministries sang spiritual songs to raise funds for families in Haiti. Max Plus Ministries builds homes in the impoverished areas of the country and aid in building their economy.
