The Faith United Methodist Church hosted its annual community festival August 29.

The festival was formerly held at the beginning of the summer season but church member Donald Wolfe said having it in August gives the community something fun to do before the warm weather disappears. Over 100 people came out to enjoy dinner, games, a car show and of course the traditional ice cream that started it all.

Faith United Methodist Church gathered the community together today for an evening of fellowship.

The Community Festival ran from 4:30PM to 7:30PM at the church grounds. Don Woilfe, Member of the Faith United Methodist Crew said the even has been going on for about 40 years, and evolved from serving dishes of ice cream.

Pastor of New Covenant Church, Candy Gibson, is inviting the community to the church's community festival this Saturday, Oct. 26.

"It's free. We'll have food in the morning 11-4 p.m. and then at 4 p.m., we'll switch and tear down the tables and have Christian rap and a dance and then a mime skit and then we'll switch over to Christian games and then we'll do an outdoor theater and then a wiener roast," said Gibson.

Some community members beat the heat with home made ice cream Saturday evening.

The Faith United Methodist Church whipped up almost 20 gallons of the summer treat for this year's Community Festival at the church. Along with the sweet treats they also held a car show and had lots of games for kids.
