Arrest In Coshocton Couple's Slayings

COSHOCTON COUNTY, OHIO (WHIZ) - According to the FBI the search is over for three suspects with ties to a double murder in Coshocton County and a string of armed robberies in three eastern states. Murder suspect, 29-year-old Robert Clark, along with robbery suspects 26-year-old Tabatha Hazel, and 28-year-old Jeffrey Caley Jr. are all in custody.

For the second year in a row Coshocton County leads the state for deer checked in during deer hunting seasons. This year the county checked in more than 7,500 deer during the state's 2014-2015 deer hunting seasons. 

Across the state officials said hunter checked in more than 175,000 deer. The archery season for deer hunting closed Sunday.

The Associated Press is reporting that a burned-out car belonging to a missing Strasburg couple has been found near Bakersville in Coshocton County.

The 1986 Pontiac was found on Adams Township Road Thursday, and according to NBC affiliate WKYC, the bodies of its owners, 88-year-old Doyle Chumney and his 79-year-old wife Lillian, were later discovered inside.

Voters Tuesday approved many of the issues on the ballot in Coshocton County.

The Children Services/Renewal 1 mill levy passed with 5,693 yes votes to 3,382 no votes.

The OSU Extension Renewal  .4 mill levy passed with 5,651 yes votes to 3,440 no votes.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced plans for an OVI checkpoint in Coshocton County.

The Patrol, in conjunction with the Coshocton County Sheriff's Office, said the checkpoint will take place Saturday evening. The exact time and location of the checkpoint will be announced Saturday morning.

Three area counties rank in the top ten for spring wild turkey harvests.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources says Ohio hunters checked in over 16,000 wild turkeys during the wild turkey hunting season and youth hunting season that ran from mid-April to May 19.

The numbers are down slightly from 2013 when over 18,000 turkey's were harvested.

This weekend's rain has caused flooding issues in Coshocton County. The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office reported Monday that there is high water in several areas and closed roadways.

The following roads are affected:

  • SR 715 in both directions at the Mohawk Dam between the dam and the Knox County line

What was supposed to be a fun filled hunting trip turned turned into a nightmare for one man when he got lost in the woods.

Timothy Miller and his brother- in- law, Scott decided to take the two and half hour drive from Cleveland to Coshocton to hunt deer on Sunday evening, when Scott became tired, Miller decided to stay in the woods and hunt a little bit longer. The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office resumes its search Monday for a missing hunter.The sheriff's office said that two men were hunting Sunday, when one of the men decided to leave the woods as it was getting dark. The other stayed behind to hunt longer, that man ended up getting lost in the woods.
