Starlight Industries is planning to begin a small renovation project at its Zane Street building.

Superintendent John Hill met with the Muskingum County Commissioners today to give a brief update on their renovation plans. Hill says this is a great cold weather project and explains that they have received bids.

"We received bids, the lowest apparent bid is $50,450 and so we're pleased with that and we probably will proceed immediately."

The Muskingum County Juvenile Court is hoping they can make some upgrades.

Earlier today director of court services Bob Smith met with county commissioners to discuss a one-time grant opportunity that requires the commissioners to be a partner for 50% of a $10,000 grant.

Muskingum County will soon have a new candidate for county commissioner.

Once the proper paperwork is filed later this week, Linda Regula is slated to replace Grant Hutcheson as the Democratic nominee to face off against incumbent Republican Jim Porter this fall.

After winning against John Bates, Muskingum County swears in their new County Commissioner, James Porter.

Porter spent the past 18 years as a Perry Township Trustee.  Now as county commissioner, he knows he has big issues that he must face in the future, some of those issues concerning creating jobs and consolidation.

The Muskingum County Board of Elections is gearing up for Novembers' general election.

Director Chris Hamill says they have noticed more candidates running this year. The deadline for the November ballot has passed, but people are still eligible to run in the primaries in May.
