There is a new maroon flag at Zane State College Monday.

At a dedication this morning Zane State received an official Muskingum County flag. The Advanced Science and Technology Center sits on the same site that the county home once did. Members of the county home helped to create the design for the flag. The college's President, Dr. Paul Brown is happy to have the flag back on such an historic site for the county.

Muskingum County is exploring its options of operating the County Home privately...

Zandex Health Care submitted a proposal in August of last year to the County Commissioners. Vice President Stoey Stout said that it could be a great opportunity, and just wants to know where the commissioners are in their decision making process.

It’s the beginning of the end of the old Muskingum County Home. The facility on Newark Road is being torn down to make way for the Zane State College Advanced Science and Technology Center. A portion of the old County Home across from Ohio University Zanesville comes crashing down Wednesday morning.

Before the back corner of the building was brought down instructors from this week's fire school place three dummies inside that will serve as victims in Thursday's training.

An area college is hoping to help with economic development in southeastern Ohio.

Zane State College President Paul Brown met with Muskingum County Commissioners on Monday to sign an agreement that will transfer the land currently occupied by the former County Home to the college so they can build an Advanced Science and Technology Center.

Muskingum County Commissioners are considering their next step since their latest certification effort for the County Home has been rejected. The county is trying to get 72 beds Medicare/Medicaid certified by the State of Ohio. But this past week the Ohio Department of Health denied the county’s Certificate of Need application for the County Home…a second defeat in a row. The Muskingum County Commissioners are telling loved ones of people in the County Home they will give them time to make adjustments if the home is medicaid certified.

Tara West met with the commissioners Thursday, because she has concerns about what will happen with her mother who is a resident of the County Home if there are changes to the way it is funded.

Changes are coming to the Muskingum County Home in an effort to get the facility Medicare and Medicaid certified.

On Monday, Sarah Weber-Somers will begin as the new administrator of the county home. Hiring an administrator was a necessary requirement in the process to get certified.
