This afternoon, the Zanesville-Muskingum County community gathered to honor local veterans and those who protect us every single day.

Cry Out America has come to Zanesville for the 6th year this Sunday and in years past the event was held at the court house but with a growing crowd a new venue was needed. Cry Out America will return to Zanesville Sunday. 

With attacks across the country on police officers, event organizer Amy Moore feels it  does not represent the at large feelings towards law enforcement. 

"I believe that the majority of people support our law enforcement, and that's why we have to make a stand, and that's why we have to show them that we care," Moore said.

The sixth annual Cry Out America will be taking place in the next couple of weeks.

A yearly event honoring area first responders will be back in Zanesville this September.

There are many holidays honoring our nation's veterans, but the Awakening Alliance took time Sunday afternoon to celebrate and appreciate area veterans and first responders.

One month from Monday will mark the 13 year anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks on this nation, and folks with Cry Out America are working to honor our first responders to show we haven't forgotten.

Community members gathered at the Muskingum County Courthouse on Sunday to say a prayer for those lost during the attacks on September 11th.

This is the fourth Patriot Day for the Muskingum County's branch of Cry Out America. The national program was created the year after the attacks by the American Awakening Alliance and people join at courthouses around the nation in remembrance.
