Over fifty scouts in the Zane Trace Scout District headed to the races today.

The Zanesville First Church of the Nazarene hosted the district Pinewood Derby race for Cub Scouts. Eleven different packs from throughout the area entered into the race and race chairman, Dan Riley, explains the day's event.

 One of the most iconic Cub Scout events is the annual Pinewood Derby Race.

The Cub Scouts of pack 137 in Duncan Falls held their annual Cake and Ice Cream Social for the public.

The event is dubbed "The Gentleman's Cake Bake" and each cub scout was paired with an adult leader to prepare their baked goods. Organizers say it teaches the boys independence, while allowing them to bond with an older role model.

Cub Scout Pack 121 from Dresden had their annual Pinewood Derby race at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Sunday afternoon. Each Cub Scout was given a car kit with a wooden block, wheels, and nails to create their derby car.

Over 1200 scouts, parents and volunteers had a blast at Scoutfest, an event that took almost 18-months to plan.

"It's really to bring the scouting family together and the mission of scouting is really to show boys all the possibilities that are available to them in life. Cub Scout Pack 121 had their 24th Annual Father-Son Cake auction at Dresden United Methodist Church. The Cub Scouts auctioned off 30 cakes to residents to raise money for their upcoming summer camp trip this August.

"We usually get a good turnout from the community to come bid on our cakes, everybody has a good time and has a lot of fun," said Cub Scouts Pack 121 Chairman Dam Riley.

Area cub scouts are baking sweet treats to raise money...

Pack 121 held its annual Father-Son Cake Auction Sunday afternoon. Pack Chairman Dan Riley said the auction is a fun way to get the community involved.

"We have 29 cub scouts who all make cakes, and then we also talk to the business community of Dresden and the surrounding area, and a lot of the business representatives come in and bid on cakes, to help support our organization," said Riley.

If you were driving along the Maysville Pike in South Zanesville Saturday, you may have noticed an ambitious group of youngsters trying to flag you down.

Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop 132 gathered outside the Maysville Avenue Sheetz to collect items and send care packages to troops overseas. Items requested varied from chewing gum and candy... to disposable cameras and batteries. Cub Master, Tim Adams said there is no set goal on how much to raise, but knows every little bit helps...
