More than a hundred people met at the Goodwill Corporate Campus on the West Pike to celebrate 100 years in the community.
Since opening back in 1914, the Goodwill Industries in our area has spread its reach to ten counties in Southeastern Ohio and five counties in West Virginia. During that time they have continued their mission to help people in need especially those suffering from physical and mental barriers.

Expansion could be in the future for two area businesses.
Tom's Ice Cream Bowl owner Bill Sullivan said it is his dream to expand his business and his wife's to have a gift shop. Sullivan is now attempting to make those dreams reality. He recently purchased a home next to the Ice Cream Bowl and plans to turn it into a gift shop. The gift shop will sell pottery and other items currently housed at the ice cream shop.
There's also plans for the outside of the proposed store.
One local man is being recognized for his great impact on the community.
Dan Hartman is the recipient of this year's Sertoma Service to Mankind Award; an award that recognizes a local resident who has given his/her time and energy to improve the community. Hartman says he feels extremely blessed to receive this prestigious award.
