More than a hundred people met at the Goodwill Corporate Campus on the West Pike to celebrate 100 years in the community.

Since opening back in 1914, the Goodwill Industries in our area has spread its reach to ten counties in Southeastern Ohio and five counties in West Virginia. During that time they have continued their mission to help people in need especially those suffering from physical and mental barriers.

Expansion could be in the future for two area businesses.

Tom's Ice Cream Bowl owner Bill Sullivan said it is his dream to expand his business and his wife's to have a gift shop. Sullivan is now attempting to make those dreams reality. He recently purchased a home next to the Ice Cream Bowl and plans to turn it into a gift shop. The gift shop will sell pottery and other items currently housed at the ice cream shop.

There's also plans for the outside of the proposed store.

The American Heart Association's newest downtown race is coming to Zanesville next week.

The "HeartChase" event replaces the traditional heart-walk, and is being held in over 50 cities nation-wide.

One local man is being recognized for his great impact on the community.

Dan Hartman is the recipient of this year's Sertoma Service to Mankind Award; an award that recognizes a local resident who has given his/her time and energy to improve the community.  Hartman says he feels extremely blessed to receive this prestigious award.

The Muskingum Valley Red Cross is losing a man who has continued to build up the organization over the past 15 years.

It was Dan Hartman's last day serving as Executive Director. He spent much of the morning packing his office before saying his goodbye's and turning in his keys.

As they celebrate their 93rd annual meeting, the Muskingum Valley Red Cross also takes time to acknowledge the time and effort of the man who has led the organization for the past 15 years.

One person donating blood can save three people's lives. This week you'll have two opportunities to save a life.

The Muskingum Valley Red Cross is having two blood drives Friday June 25th. Executive Director Dan Hartman said there is a high demand for donors in the summer.

The Executive Director of the Muskingum Valley Red Cross is announcing his retirement. Dan Hartman has been working with the organization for 15 years, and his last day is slated for June 30th.

"I think after everything I've been through and the family, I think it's time to retire. I'm looking forward to it, " says Hartman.

Hartman is referring to the heart surgery he had back in January that he says saved his life.

Not many people can claim they are survivors of heart disease, but Dan Hartman is one of them. A local man who has helped members of the community during the worst times of their life is now in need of the community's prayers and support.
