The Avian Flu hasn't yet made its way into Ohio and state officials are taking steps to keep it that way.

Ohio has banned poultry shows from the Ohio State Fair and county fairs in order to protect the state from the virus. The absence of the poultry shows at Ohio fairs means that local 4-H youth looking to show their birds won't be able to.

166 days stand between now and the 169th Muskingum County Blue Ribbon Fair. 

And fans of country music will be pleased to hear that this year's concert is Trace Adkins. Adkins last played the fair in 2004 and organizers said the show was so well received there was no question on whether or not to bring him back. 

Ticket sales will also benefit a special project.

We're just 160 days away from the Muskingum County Blue Ribbon Fair.

This year instead of one night of headline music the fair board has put together two nights. On Thursday August 14, Tyler Farr, the singer of the single "Redneck Crazy" will perform along with special guest Parmalee. Parmalee's hit song "Carolina" is currently in the Top 30 of the billboard country airplay.

The Swon Brothers best known from NBC's The Voice will take the stage Friday August 15...

Unfortunately all good things must come to end, inlcuding the beloved 2013 Muskingim County Fair.

President of the Fair Board, Darrel Cubbison says that this year he wanted to make sure everyone got a chance to experience the fun filled event.

"That's why we have more promotional days than anyone else in the state. We have Veteran's day, Wendy's day, Senior day, Kroger day, and Pepsi day. We have had five days out of the seven where people would have a chance to come,"...

The 167th Muskingum County Blue Ribbon Fair opened on Sunday with a grand ceremony.

Members of the Muskingum County Fair Board and community leaders opened the fair with the national anthem and a tribute to Vicki Reed who was a 4H youth educator in the area, and touched the lives of many.  Reed died in May after working over 30 years for the Ohio State Extension Agency.
