Dog licenses for 2016 are now for sale in Muskingum County.

Anyone in the county who owns a dog three-months or older must purchase a dog license by January 31 to avoid a penalty. Muskingum County Auditor, Debra Nye, said if you don't have a license on your pup by February 1, the price doubles.

Muskingum County Auditor Debra Nye met with the county commissioners Monday afternoon.

New software creates a way for Muskingum County to work more efficiently.

The County Auditor met with Commissioners to talk about new payroll and accounting software. Auditor Debra Nye said the hardware in their office is now 25 years or older. The plan is to relocate software support to ISSG in Springboro, Ohio to cut down on complications and breakdowns when it comes to printing payroll checks.

The Muskingum County Commissioners met Monday morning with the County Auditor to discuss the new prices for dog tags.

Once the state legislation passed House Bill 59, it increased the length of time the tags are valid for. Pet owners have three time frame options of one year, three years or a permanent tag.

A warning is going out to homeowners in Muskingum County.

Some property owners received a letter in the mail from a Cleveland company claiming their property value is incorrect and that they're paying too much in taxes. The county auditor said that reappraisals were just completed in October and November.

Next tax season property owners in Muskingum County could see changes to their taxes.

Muskingum County is currently finishing an appraising process that's taken two years to complete. According to Ohio Revised Code property reappraisals must take place every six years.
