A water main break on Pinecrest Drive has forced Muskingum County Water officials to issue a boil advisory .

Water Department Manager Don Madden says the areas affected are west of the Pinecrest water storage tank which includes the Timber Run Subdivision, Walnut Hills Subdivision and the Villages of Mt. Sterling and Gratiot.

The boil advisory does not affect areas along the West Pike or old National Road.

Madden says the advisory is in effect until further notice.

A bid opening for the Avondale Sanitary Sewer Project was held at the Muskingum County Commissioners office Thursday.

Project Director of Muskingum County, Don Madden told us for these types of projects, the bids are based off of an engineers estimate. This particular project was estimated at $2.4 million. Madden told us a little bit more about the ongoing repairs.

The Muskingum County Commissioners accepted a bid Thursday afternoon for the Blue Rock water tank project.

The only bid for the tank was submitted by Mid-Atlantic Storage Systems of Washington Court House. Muskingum County Projects Director Don Madden said the project would extend a water line from the county to Blue Rock State Park.

The Muskingum County Projects Director met with the county commissioners to discuss opening bids for new radio read water meters in our area.

Projects Director, Don Madden says that one local vendor accepted their bid and now Buckeye State Pipe will oversee the expansive project. It was a little over $500,000 and they were a $159 a piece for 3,400 meters." said Madden.

During a meeting with the Muskingum County Commissioner's, county projects director, Don Madden, discussed the Gratiot/Mount Sterling water project that was completed in 2013. Madden and the Commissioner's discussed how two unpaid vendors will be reimbursed. Madden says the Pennsylvania-based company contracted to complete the project, failed to pay some of the vendors and suppliers.

A two month hydrant flushing project is underway in Muskingum County.

Over one thousand hydrants are being flushed by county water workers. There is two reasons for this. One is to remove sediment from the line and the other is to check each hydrant to see if it needs repaired. If this wasn't done it could spell danger.
