A local organization is the recipient of a $2,500 award that will be used to benefit children in our area.

After winning the America's Farmer's Grow Communities initiative this past fall, Local Fairfield Farmer, Joyce Blosser was given a choice to donate the money to a Non Profit Organization of her choice. She chose to support the Ohio State Grange Charitable Foundation at the Friendly Hills Grange Camp in Zanesville.

A fund has been set up to help a McConnelsville man whose barn was burnt down, killing eight horses.

The State Fire Marshal's Office ruled the the April 24th fire arson, and since then people nationwide have offered their assistance to owner Brent Whitehouse. WHIZ spoke with Whitehouse Friday, and he says he would like to thank everyone for their support and willingness to help.

One local club is helping to fight Alzheimers disease.

The Fraternal Order of Eagles Club here in Zanesville presented a $500.00 check to Emeritus retirement home Thursday evening; all in hopes of making a difference.

"Alzheimer's is such a huge connection to so many people, so many people have been affected by it. The disease doesn't just affect the person, their entire family is brought into the disease," said Emeritus Executive Director Dawn Huffman.

An area school beat their own goal of collecting 1,000 items for a local organization.

The Bishop Fenwick School in Zanesville collected 1,200 cans of food, toiletries and other items to be donated to the Eastside Community Ministry.
