A two-vehicle accident in downtown Zanesville sends one person to the hospital.

Zanesville Police say earlier Saturday evening, a Ford Escort heading westbound on Main ran a red light causing a Dodge Ram pickup heading southbound on Fifth to hit the right rear side of the Escort causing extensive damage.

Downtown Zanesville's Potter's Alley project is still a slow work in progress.

In their quarterly meeting, the Community Improvement Corporation of Zanesville is continuing to push the development of Downtown Zanesville but with the economy in the red, the project is at a standstill.

Two buildings in downtown Zanesville were up for auction Thursday afternoon.

Both buildings were commercial properties, and were sold in an absolute real estate auction, with no minimum purchase price.

Both were sold to Alice McConnell and her son Rick Houston of Florida. The first building, located at 608 Main Street sold for $6600. Although in need of work, the new owners agree it has a lot to offer with its 12,500 square feet of commercial space.

Traffic was slowed down on Main Street in Downtown Zanesville Monday afternoon after a two vehicle accident.

It happened around 1:15 p.m. at the intersection of Main and 6th Streets. 

According to Zanesville Police, a car was headed east on Main Street, went through a red light and ran into a van that was travelling north on 6th Street.

No one was injured in the accident.

A local college is helping bring in business to Downtown Zanesville.

You might notice the downtown area is a little cleaner today.

Local students were cleaning and sprucing up downtown Zanesville as part of Clean Up Day.

Manager of the Zanesville Downtown Association Dana Matz said this is part of what the city does each year to keep the streets polished. Matz said they coordinate a program for Foxfire High School students to get out of class and help preserve our area.

The snow is even affecting business in downtown Zanesville.

Ditty's Downtown Deli is located on Fourth Street, and Owner, DJ Dittmar, says it's been a struggle these past couple of weeks with sales being cut in half.
