Female golfers from around the area came out to the Zanesville Country Club Monday to celebrate women's education.

Zane State has scored the presence of a former Buckeye football coach.

For the past 11 years Dr. Paul Brown has been the President of Zane State College, but in just nine short months he will be retiring.

Dr. Brown says that part of the mission of Zane State is to develop the region. State funding for Ohio's two and four year colleges are now tied 100% to graduation rates and course completion.

The Inter-University Council of Ohio collaborated with the Ohio Association of Community Colleges to create the new framework for the funding. Dr. Paul Brown, President of Zane State College, worked on the new distribution plan and feels that it will transform the education system in Ohio.

Ohio University Zanesville and Zane State College held an active shooter drill on their campuses Friday.

The safety event brought together observers and 10 different emergency agencies from across the area. Director of Public Safety, Bethany Hayes says that training like this is incredibly relevant in todays day and age.

Those traveling into the downtown will see a beautiful site once work is complete.

The John McIntire Library recently removed some trees on the 5th Street side of the building that were over 20 years old. The trees were sick and others dead. The removal left the library in need of landscaping for the space. Thanks to the Daybreak Rotary the area is changing.

The organization presented the library with a $2,000 grant.

A donation by AT&T is helping advance the educational opportunities for students at Zane State College.

The AT&T Foundation recently donated $20,000 to Zane State in order to purchase digital video equipment including an electronic mixer, high end mac computer, a professional production monitor and HD camera.

Zane State College is receiving national recognition for student success.

The college was recognized with the "Leah Meyer Austin Institutional Student Success Leadership Award" as number one in the nation for closing achievement gaps and increasing student retention rates.
