Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says the Bureau of Criminal Investigation is on the scene today of Tuesday night’s big fire in Dresden.  It happened just after 11 p.m. at 95 Chestnut Street in a former Longaberger basket building.  Fire chief Carl Archer says the cause is undetermined, but it appears suspicious since there is no electricity to the building.  No injuries were reported.

Dresden Fire Chief Carl Archer say an early Tuesday morning fire appears to be the work of an arsonist. The chief says a a large building at the corner of 5th and Main Streets caught on fire early this morning doing major damage. Archer says this is the 2nd or 3rd arson fire in the village this year and the 9th since 2009. Two Dresden Police Officers are credited with saving the lives of two people in a burning home.  Dresden Fire Department Assistant Chief Harold Wolford says officers Brandon Hardesty and Curt Rogers were on patrol and noticed a house on fire at 25 West 6th Street just after 3 a.m.  The two police officers were able to help  William Ripple and his wife from their burning home and then called the fire department.  Assistant Chief Wolford says when his crews arrived they...

The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a home in Dresden.

Around 8 p.m. on Friday, crews from the Dresden and Falls Township Fire Departments were called to 21 East Sixth Street.  Dresden Fire Chief Carl Archer told WHIZ that a family of four was renting the home.

Archer said the damage is estimated at about $140,000, and the home is considered a total loss.  The family is being assisted by the Muskingum Valley Chapter...
