The Dresden Melon Festival wrapped Aug 8.

Just one shuttle from the Tri-Valley parking lot, the festival featured food, entertainment, and of course melons. Mayor of Dresden and Melon Festival Chairman David Mathew said the festival reminds him of the community he lives in and serves.

A sweet Dresden tradition returns this weekend.

Saturday is the 8th annual Dresden Melon Festival, celebrating the village's rich heritage. The festival will feature live music, games, and melon-eating and seed-spitting contests. The village even honors its most famous melon, the cantaloupe, with a melon derby.

The village of Dresden, known for its sweet melons is hosting the 7th annual Dresden Melon Festival this Saturday.

There are events runing all day starting with a fishing derby at 6 a.m. Dresden Mayor Dave Matthew said there's a taste of a little bit of everthing.

Over the weekend the village of Dresden, celebrated their 7th annual Melon Festival.

The festival is a chance for members of the community to all get together and spend quality time catching up. The festival got its unique name from the cantaloupe that is grown in the Dresden area.

A small town celebrates their unique heritage.

Since the 1970's the Dresden Melon Festival has been a celebration of family, friends and the area's rich melon-growing legacy. The community festival offers a lot to do, buy and eat.

"We couldn't have asked for a better day. It's beautiful out. We had not quite 100 people in the 5K run, the course was beautiful. We're tickled, very tickled," said Mayor Dave Matthew.

Dresden got a taste of summer on Saturday at the fourth annual Melon Festival at Dresden River Park.

Melon Festival Chairman Dave Mathew said the original festival ended in the 1970s, but the event is gaining popularity once again.  The Tri-Valley marching band performed the opening ceremoney as runners crossed the finish line for the 5K race.
