Just of 180 pounds of pills were collected and properly disposed of in Muskingum County at Saturday's drug take back sites.

Just a reminder that tomorrow is the drug take back drop off at Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department.

Northside Pharmacy, Genesis Hospital, the Muskingum Behavioral Health and even a local recycling plant are all collaborating so locals can quickly and anonymously drop off prescription drugs not being used, in hopes to prevent them from falling in the wrong hands. Riesbeck's is joining the Sheriff's Office in their mission to rid homes of unused and expired medication this Saturday.

The South Zanesville store will host a 'Drug Take Back' location. Those with meds to dispose of can drop off pills and patches. Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz said it's important to dispose of medications for health and safety.

The Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department held its drug take back day from ten to two Saturday.

The Zanesville Muskingum County Health Department is holding a Drug Take Back Event.

It's Saturday, September 27 from 10AM to 2PM. Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says all expired or unused medication will be accepted.

"Our service provides anything that you bring in prescription pills wise we'll take, including the containers they come in, liquid, the DEA wont take and we'll also take sharps that can be disposed of."

Volunteers and local law enforcement agencies worked together to get prescription drugs off the streets.

Local officials are working to combat prescription drug abuse here in Muskingum County.
