Over 800 students are now ready for the school year to begin.
Eastside Community Ministry handed out their backpacks put together through their "Tools for School" program.
"I think it's incredible. Obviously the number requested every year grows. It's a program that's needed in our community and I think that it is great that we're able to use so many partners and use so many volunteers and fill that need," said Youth Program Director Joey Osborn.
While kids might not want to hear it, it's already time to think about going back to school.
Three local organizations in the Zanesville Community want to make sure kids have new shoes on their feet for the start of the school year. Wendy's, Eastside Community and WHIZ have teamed up once again for "Lace Up for Kids Campaign." This is the 25th year for the event which kicked off Monday.

Young girls from around the area were able to shop for a free dress for their upcoming prom at the 5th annual "Once Upon a Prom" dress giveaway. The event was held at the Muskingum County Welcome Center and was sponsored by the East Side Community Ministry. There were over 600 dresses to choose from, all of which were donated by members of the community and by Jillian's. Five local charities received checks from the proceeds of this year's souper bowl event. The five beneficiaries are: Eastside Community Ministry, Muskingum County Center for Seniors, The Salvation Army, Fellowship of Christ's Community and Christ's Table.
The annual event in October raised almost fifteen hundred dollars for the five charities. Divided by five, each organization received almost three thousand dollars and those funds can go a long way.
