The Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency works to supply first responders working on hazmat spills, storm clean-up or any other disaster, with what they need to successfully complete the task. Muskingum County will soon have a new emergency 9-1-1 notification system.

Agencies from Muskingum and surrounding counties met at the Emergency Management Agency to hear about an enhanced 9-1-1 system called EverBridge. The system uses the 9-1-1 database to put an emergency message out to the public.

A Perry County road is shut down for hours Wednesday evening as crews work to clean up a fuel spill.

According to Crooksville Fire Department Chief Ralph Hill, a 55-gallon drum of some type of petroleum product fell out of a vehicle around 8 p.m. The spill started on State Route 93, but the majority of the fuel was found on Watt Hill Road.

Poor weather conditions Monday and a report of funnel cloud triggered concern of when to sound the alarm.

Monday afternoon an off duty Coshocton Firefighter spotted what he said was a funnel cloud formation, similar to a photo snapped by Local Resident, Lori Hammer at about the same time. Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency Director, Bo Keck said when a credible source reports tornado conditions, even if the weather service has not issued a warning, action is taken.

Search efforts for 2-year-old, Anthony Joseph Tullius, did not resume today after he and his 3-year-old, half-brother, Ayden Leroy Cecil, drowned in the Muskingum River yesterday.

The Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency acts as a watchdog that is prepared to assist during weather storms.

Director Bo Keck says his day starts early when he receives notifications through his cell phone of any weather watches or warnings.  Next, he goes onto a computer to check the United States Geological Survey in order to view the water levels for all the waterways in our area.  Keck says it's crucial to watch these different levels.
