One local organization is noticing an increase of visitors in their emergency shelter due to the recently cooler temperatures.

The Salvation Army is preparing for the cold weather by getting the message out about their emergency shelter. We spoke to Program Director, Dustin Redmond who tells us the purpose of the shelter is to help folks get back on their feet.

The Salvation Army is helping people stay warm during these dangerously cold winter temperatures.

Their emergency shelter has been checking in a number of individuals within the past couple of days due to the severly cold weather this week. The shelter can house a maximum of 35 individuals from 1 to 90 days and service anyone from Muskingum, Perry or Morgan counties.

One organization hopes that the cold temperatures will bring people indoors.

Officials at the Salvation Army in Zanesville said they are ready to shelter those who need to get out of the elements. Their shelter holds up to 35 people and includes a men's and women's dorm and a place for families. With rising temperatures many families are desperate for relief.

As bone chilling temperatures blanket Southeast Ohio, the Salvation Army is offering their own blanket to those who need a warm place to stay.

The Muskingum County Emergency Agency along with the Muskingum Valley Red Cross is opening a comfort shelter at the Salvation Army in Putnam.

The shelter is designed as a place for residents to get warm while their power is out.
