The drought has lifted a little but it may be too late for farmers.

The farmers market at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds had a larger crowd this Saturday than in the last weeks. The rain may have cooled things off, but it hasn't helped the produce much.

"The rain's too late for a lot of things. It's too late for some of the field corn, it's too late for some of the sweet corn. But when you plant different plantings, consecutively, some of the sweet corn isn't harmed. This...

The drought has taken a toll on local farmers.

The high temperatures and little rain have put a damper on those who bring their crop to the farmers market at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds. The short rain from last weekend's storm has helped a little, but not much.

"Things just aren't growing as quickly. I should be harvesting bigger peppers and they're just kind of small right now. I had a lot more things this week because the rain really helped them, so I...

Despite the jump-start to the growing season, the hot weather is stunting the growth of some locally-grown produce.

Farmers Market President Mark Barnhart said some farmers have resorted to small irrigation systems to keep from losing their crops.

"Even though some of the trees...

The rain held off long enough for some outdoor shopping Saturday...

The 35th annual Farmer's Market opened this weekend in Zanesville. Vendors set up shop at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds to sell their goods and market their businesses.

"We get a lot of advertisement. A lot of people go to our garden center, like they want to know more things about plants, and we have several varieties. We do all perennials and herbs. We decided to try that instead of all annuals, and it'...

The Farmer's Market has come to Downtown Zanesville early this year, but it seems the farmers are behind schedule.

The Farmer's Market typically has 10 to 12 vendors but, due to high rain levels, the planting season for many farmers has been forced to be pushed back.

Manager of The Zanesville Downtown Association, Dana Matz, said, "We had several call us up late yesterday or early this morning and say, 'Dana we got to take a chance, an advantage...

The wind and grey skies didn't stop those looking for local produce and other goods at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds.

The local farmer's market is back and open for business as another season is underway. Right now those looking on getting their gardens ready have a variety of choices, especially when it comes to perennials.

"Perennials will give your garden structure. They come back each year sometimes you can multiple and divide them," said the Owner of Herb n...
