The Zanesville Fire Department collected donations for a great cause Friday.
The annual Fill the Boot campaign took place at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Bell from 10AM to 3PM. Zanesville fire fighters stood in the street with boots and took donations from passing drivers for Muscular Dystrophy. Muscular Dystrophy Association Coordinator for Local 88 Anthony Shriver says what they do is all about the kids.

The annual fundraiser benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association, an organization dedicated to helping people who suffer from neuromuscular diseases. The money raised also gives kids the opportunity to go to camp, have wheelchairs and any other changes they might need in the home.

Zanesville Firefighters collect almost two hundred more dollars than last year during their "Fill the Boot" campaign
The two day event raises money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. This year Local 88 Co-Chair Gale Law said firefighters collected $13,365 from local citizens a $500 donation from the Kohl's A-Team.
Law said he greatly appreciates the community's support their effort to keep this tradition alive to support the MDA.

Zanesville Fire Fighters waved down passing vehicles asking them to help "Fill the Boot." This is the second time in recent weeks the crew has hit the street to raise money and awareness of the disease through the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Two weeks ago they raised more than $6,900. Today, they hope to beat that amount - raising a total of $15,000.
