The Hanover Township Fire Department is calling a weekend fire suspicious.

Fire Chief Brian Spellman says the fire appears to have been intentionally set, but it remains under investigation.

The incident happened at 7 Hills Road.

Spellman says there are reports that the home had been vacant for almost 10 years. He says there also was no power or gas connected to it.

The home is considered a total loss.

The Licking County Fire Investigator is handling the case....

A fire in Hanover called in about 10 different fire stations from the area to battle the blaze.

It happened at Seven Hills Road at an abandoned home. Brian Spellman with the Hanover Volunteer Fire Department says the home was owned by Longaberger and had been abandoned for nearly ten years.

Spellman says it was very difficult getting the water from the trucks to the home which was set back from the road.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A second fire breaks out on a Brush Creek Township road in less than 24 hours.

Around 9 p.m. Wednesday night, a fire broke out at 4065 Cannelville Road. Firefighters say upon arrival they saw heavy flames coming from the attic and back of the house. Owners, Richard and Sherry Fritz, tell WHIZ a grill on the back porch started the blaze.

While fighting the fire, crews ran out of water.

A trailer was destroyed in a fire early Wednesday morning.

According to Bob Hatfield with the Harrison Township EMS, emergency personnel were called to the scene at 3750 Cannelville Road in Brush Creek Township shortly before 4 a.m.

The trailer home was unoccupied. Hatfield says it was already fully-engulfed by the time crews arrived on scene. It was a complete loss.

Harrison Township was assisted by the South Zanesville Fire Department.

Around 230 children and more than 35 staff members were evacuated after a fire at the Genesis Children's Center on Taylor Street in Zanesville.

Zanesville Fire Chief Dave Lacy says a fire broke out in an electric clothing dryer in a mechanical room shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Zanesville firefighters are on the scene of a late night fire.

It broke around 10:15 p.m. at 1437 Wheeler Avenue.

Crews arrived to find an intense fire that was fully engulfed and were able to tame the fire within 15 minutes.

Neighbors who live close to the structure say it was abandoned.

The Newark Fire Department is investigating the cause of a house fire that took place this afternoon.

It happened at 241 East Main Street.

Assistant Fire Chief Bill Spurgeon says the blaze caught a wall on fire that spread. It took crews about 20 minutes to put out the fire.

Three individuals were home at the time, including occupant Krystal Hill, and Spurgeon says they made it out OK. The Red Cross has been notified for assistance.

Two adults and a baby were taken to the hospital Saturday after and early morning fire on Oakland Avenue in Zanesville.

Falls Township Fire Department Chief J.D. Johnson says Ryan Nichols was woken up by heat after his mattress caught fire. Nichols then woke up is girlfriend, Melissa Winsor who grabbed her nine week old daughter and all three escaped through a window. Nichols hurt his arm while busting out the window and all three were treated and released at Good Samaritan...

Authorities have released the name of the man killed in a fire Wednesday in Newark.

According to the Licking County Coroner's Office 37-year-old Eric Gerstner died of carbon monoxide poisoning. Sergeant Scott Snow with the Newark Police Department said the fire broke out shortly after 5 a.m. Wednesday morning in an apartment at 425 Mount Vernon Road. After firefighters extinguished the blaze they found the body.

The Newark Police Department is investigating a dead body that was found at the scene of an early morning fire.

It happened at an apartment complex in the 400 block of Mount Vernon Road.

"Right now, it's not looking as though the death had any kind of criminal element. It also appears as though the fire was accidental, " says Sergeant Scott Snow.

Snow says firefighters extinguished the blaze and then went to investigate the scene where they happened to come...
