Last weekend there were 15 fires in the Red Cross' central and southeastern Ohio region. The Muskingum Valley Red Cross Executive Director Marlene Henderson says almost $10,000 was spent in assistance on the 82 people whose homes caught fire. Henderson says winter is a peak time for fires and wants to remind people to be cautious.

Black billowing smoke could be seen on the north side of town around 5:15 Tuesday evening due to a Zanesville plant catching fire.

According to Zanesville Fire Department Assistant Chief, Bob Long, the spot fire occurred at 1700 State Street, formerly known as Brockway Glass, because of a build up of grease on the ceiling of the plant. Now known as Zanesville OI, the plant produces various glass products.

Fire erupted in a two story farmhouse early Monday morning in Glenford Township, destroying the structure.

Glenford Fire Department Chief Ricky Wright said just after midnight crews responded to a vacant house on Mound Builders Road, near the Licking and Perry county line. Fire fighters responded to a Luck Avenue home and when they arrived, the garage was fully involved in flames. Michele Huey and her husband lost their car in the fire and $300 worth of cosmetology tools that Michele needs for work.

A fire destroys a Guernsey County truck maintenance facility in the early hours of Sunday Morning.

At approximately 3 a.m. the Pleasant City Fire Department was called to a fire behind a Duke and Duchess gas station at Exit 37 Repair Shop near Buffalo on State Route 313 near Interstate 77.

Once on scene they contained the blaze but later on in the afternoon they were sent out to the fire for a second time.

Roseville Fire Department's Second Assistant Fire Chief, Albert Laece says the fire started right around 9 a.m. on Cannelville Road, and when crews arrived, the barn was fully engulfed in flames.

"It appears the owner was working with a saw and somehow there were sparks inside," said Laece. "It sounds like a very accidental."

Laece says there were no injuries and there wasn't much inside, but the 104-year-old barn is destroyed.

A house fire that took place Sunday night in Glenford continued to burn through this morning.

A neighbor reported that the house next door was fully engulfed in smoke around 10 p.m. The house is located at 13993 State Route 668 North. No one was home at the time of the fire. The Glenford Fire Department was assisted by volunteer firemen from Somerset and Thornville to put out the blaze. Firefighters are currently battling flames at house fire in Glenford.

According to the police scanner, around 10 pm, the structure at 13899 State Route 668 north, just north of Snook road is fully engulfed with fire and heavy smoke.Glenford Fire Department is receiving back up several squads including, but not limited to, Somerset and Thornville and were requesting a tanker.

According to a neighbor, the residents of the home are away this evening, so hopefully no one is injured....

All 19 Cambridge fire fighters responded to the scene of a fire around 11:30 a.m. Friday in downtown Cambridge at 925 Wheeling Ave. But it got so out of control, they called for back up from Byesville, New Concord, Cassell Station and Liberty Fire Departments and closed part of the street.

The South Zanesville Fire Department responded to a house fire at 2058 Chewelah Ave. in the area of Dearborn Street around 2:15 p.m. Thursday afternoon. The two occupants of the house were inside when the fire started.
