One area business remembers our past through pictures.

The Camera Shop now on Brandywine Boulevard used to call downtown Zanesville home and has been in business for 62 years. Over that time the shop as acquired photos from the area's past and are putting over 200 on display that haven't been shown before.

"We chose ones that had meaning, had people, showed older buildings, downtown Zanesville that people may be interested in seeing," said Co-owner Jodie Englehart.

Two local artists have made their passion for the outdoors a part of their every day lives...

Cheryl Randles and Teresa Huffman Caw share Elements Art Studio, and are this month's featured artists in the First Friday Art Walk. Randles said she makes functional art from natural materials.

Five artists will be featured this week during the First Friday Art Walk...

The artists of Tower Galleries & Studios recently moved onto the fifth floor of the Masonic Temple on 4th Street. Marilyn Knell is one of the artists. She focuses on animals, and said her inspiration came easily.

"My husband and I took a trip to Africa a few years ago, and I've been painting African animals ever since. Just their plight, you know, that they are endangered."

Downtown Zanesville is hosting its First Friday Art Walk.

The Z.A.A.P. Featured Artist of the Month is Nancy Holland.  She works with oil, acrylics, watercolor and pencil drawings.  Holland said her style is derived from the true love and appreciation for nature.

"I've done one in a lot of greens, and it kind of reminds me of spring after a storm," said Holland.  "There's also a winter scene, and I guess that's the only snow we got this year....

A local student is putting her passion on display...

Starlight student Susan Cornell has art work featured at the Starlight Cafe on Main Street. Art teacher Diana Geidenberger said Cornell's love for art didn't come easily.

Two local artists have their works on display and you'll have the chance to see them in person..

The month of March begins this week, so it's time for the First Friday Art Walk.

Schimmel Fitness is the featured business to host the event this month. It is currently housing the art work of Rick Crooks, a metal sculptor from Crooksville. Owner Bill Schimmel said he's amazed by Crooks' art, his creativity, and vision.

The First Friday Art Walk in Downtown Zanesville will expanded their focus to recognize the art of dance.

Movement on Main Center for Dance will be January's Featured Artist of the Month. Founder and Director Whitney Joseph studied ballet in Zanesville for nearly 10 years before continuing her studies at Ohio University. Today her focus is to encourage her students.

The monthly First Friday Art Walk in downtown Zanesville is this Friday.

The Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project- Z.A.A.P- will feature Abstract Artist Marie Lakorenos. Lakorenos said her interest in art began in 5th grade, but it wasn't until her own children later grew up that she was able to fulfill her passion.
