The brutal winter weather around the state could affect local farmer's fruit crops in the upcoming growing season.

Marvin Paul from Paul's Farm Market on State Route 60 South says that peaches, plums, nectarines and cherries are most affected . He says that anytime the temperature dips below ten degrees, it's a serious danger for the plants and production yields.

Local farmer's set up their stands outside the Zanesville-Muskingum County Welcome Center to sell some of their produce that's winding down for the season and are getting ready for what's next in line. Sour cherries are nearing the end of their season along with snow peas, sugar snap peas and almost everyone's summertime favorite...

Weather experts are calling it the coldest winter the US will experience in about 25 years, And an advancing system could bring some of the coldest temperatures we've seen this season by the end of the week.

That could pose a problem to some farmers down south, who are worried this extended cold snap could damage the citrus crop and the strawberry plant.
