On Friday, volunteers from the Muskingum Valley Garden Society started planting dozens of different kinds of plants in front of the Welcome Center. Darlene Turner, a MVGS volunteer, says this is just one step to help beautify downtown Zanesville.

Monday marks the end of frost warnings in Ohio and is the official day you can start growing your garden outside.

The convention hosted three speakers at Saturday's event. One of them was Nan Chase, author of "Eat Your Yard." Chase shared her expertise and gardening tips to Muskingum County residents.

The Muskingum Valley Garden Society kicked the winter blues with their 10th annual "Spring Fever" Home Gardening Symposium. The event was held at the Ohio University-Zanesville Campus earlier today where people listened to speakers, ate lunch and learned about gardening techniques.

One local group is helping to beautify downtown Zanesville.

Volunteers from the Muskingum Valley Garden Society spent a few hours at the Zanesville Bust Station Wednesday evening to assist on a landscaping project.

"The idea was to put some of these projects in for the downtown community for downtown to maintain their own projects once we get them started," said Darlene Turner of the Muskingum Valley Garden Society.
