The cost of gasoline is going down…at least for now.  Average gas prices in Ohio have dipped by 8 cents per gallon over the past week but remain at rates more than 20 cents higher than a year ago.  The rate in Monday’s survey from Auto Club AAA is $3.83 per gallon.  Last Monday’s average price was $3.91.  Ohio drivers were paying about $3.62 this time last year, 21 cents less than the current average.  Average nationwide gasoline prices have jumped...

A lot of drivers in Zanesville were hot under the collar today and it had nothing to do with the temperature. It was the high cost of gasoline.

It shot up to $3.99 a gallon Tuesday.  Just this morning it was selling for $3.69 a gallon at the Maple Avenue BP at Forest Avenue.

Motorist Mary Ann Young said, "I'm a little concerned, because I know I have to do without something else in order to... but I can't run my car without it, so what am I going to do?"

Gasoline prices in Ohio have fallen six cents since last week, the first drop in five weeks.  The average price for regular is $3.79 a gallon in Monday’s Survey from Auto Club AAA, The Oil Price Information Service and Wright Express.  Last Monday’s average was $3.85.  Some places in Zanesville are selling a gallon of gas for $3.69 a gallon.  Ohio drivers were paying about $3.53 this time last year, 26 cents less than the current average.  Nationwide...

The average price for a gallon of gas is rising closer $4.00 a gallon.

The Lundberg Survey of fuel prices is showing a nationwide average of $3.81 for a gallon of regular.\

We talked to motorists at the BP station on Maple Avenue, where a gallon of regular gas was $3.84 a gallon.

Many of them are outraged that gas has jumped 12 cents over the past two weeks.

"I'm a salesman on the road, and yeah, sure it does. I stay over more in hotels now than I ever did...

Gasoline prices are up more than a dime from last week at pumps in Zanesville and the rest of Ohio.

The state's average price for regular gas was $3.45 in today's survey from auto club aaa, the oil price information service and wright express. That's up 12 cents from the average of $3.33 per gallon a week ago.

We found gas this morning at the B.P. on Maple Avenue at $3.49 a gallon and at the Exxon Mobil station off of I-70, gas was $3.39 a gallon.

Ohio gas prices are about 28 cents higher than a year ago as 2012 gets underway.

Monday's survey from Auto Club AAA put the statewide average price for regular gasoline at $3.40 per gallon, up two cents from last week.  Last year at this time regular was averaging about $3.12 in Ohio.

WHIZ caught up with some drivers feeling the pain at the pump.

Drivers filled up their gas tanks Monday afternoon thankful to feel the relief as gas prices continue to drop.

Recent surveys place Ohio's average price at $3.34 a gallon. At the BP in Zanesville residents filled up for $3.36 a gallon. That is 15 cents cheaper than last week, but still well above the price last year.

"I wish they would go down some more," said Local Commuter, Ethal Luallen. "But I guess we have to take what we get."

The tides may be turning as gas prices continue to drop...

Auto Club AAA says the average price for gas in Ohio has dropped four cents over the last few days bringing the pain at the pump to $4.12.  AAA Spokesperson Kimberly Schwind says crude oil prices have sank below one hundred dollars per barrel which is the first time since March 16th.  She says the fluctuation in gas prices is in the investors' hands.

The cost of gasoline in Zanesville has now jumped past the $4.00 a gallon mark.

Thursday the BP at Maple and Forest Avenues was selling regular grade gas at $4.15 a gallon which could be a record.

Earlier this week it was reported that supply problems in Libya are pushing oil to past $113 a barrel.

Eight other gas stations in the area also selling it at $4.15 a gallon.

According to Sam’s Club is selling the cheapest gas at $3.84 a gallon.

Oil prices are at their highest levels in two and a half years and are helping to push gas prices up to $3.70 locally.

The high cost of gas is prompting some people to dump their bigger model V8 trucks and SUVs in an effort to save on the fuel costs. Experts say a good vehicle will get you 25, 30 or even 40 miles per gallon.
