Motorists traveling in Muskingum County need to be aware of a bridge closure for Monday. 

The Muskingum County Engineer announced the Gaysport Bridge Bridge, which crosses the Muskingum River connecting Ohio 60 and Old River Road will close between 9am-3pm. 

During this time the bridge will undergo necessary repairs.

The Muskingum County Engineer's Office announced Wednesday the Gaysport Bridge spanning the Muskingum River will be closing next week.

Officials say starting Monday, June 23 the bridge will be closed for repairs until Thursday, July 3.

The project length will be weather permitting.

Motorists should use an alternate route.

Two construction projects tie up roadways in Muskingum County.

Monday, Northpointe Drive, closed for 30 days so that the road could be rehabbed and paving could take place.

Part of the project includes replacing the asphalt berms that have been broken up and leveling some of the roadway.

"Over the Vista View Drive area there's a conspan that seems to be settling, so we're going to put a concrete patch in that area to level up that area, then we'll resurface," said...

The engineer's office shut down the Gaysport Bridge for the next three weeks, however they will briefly reopen it for the July 4th weekend.


"We're going to do this one here and have it open for the Fourth of July weekend so that people can get back and forth to the businesses on the 60 side and be able to enjoy their holiday weekend," says Tim Snelling, work crewman.

The Muskingum County Engineer's Office announces the Gaysport Bridge will be closed for several weeks.

Officials say starting Monday, June 21 through Friday, July 9 the bridge will be closed.

Crews will be completing repairs to the bridge deck.

Motorists should use alternate routes.
