The Genesis Cancer Care Center will officially open its doors to patients starting Monday.

The facility will be the first in Zanesville, and up until now, patients being treated for cancer have had to travel out of town for their treatment. With Ebola on the front lines of medical news, local hospitals are preparing just in case the virus arrives in Southeast Ohio.

The Zanesville Police Department responded to an altercation outside of Genesis/Bethesda Hospital this afternoon.

The incident took place between three individuals just before 1 P.M. in the Genesis/Bethesda parking lot. The Zanesville Muskingum County Health Department is holding a Drug Take Back Event.

It's Saturday, September 27 from 10AM to 2PM. Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says all expired or unused medication will be accepted.

"Our service provides anything that you bring in prescription pills wise we'll take, including the containers they come in, liquid, the DEA wont take and we'll also take sharps that can be disposed of."

The Bethesda Behavioral Health Center will open a new facility on Monday for those suffering from mental health issues as well as drug and alcohol dependency.

A special ceremony was held at the Genesis Bethesda Hospital campus Wednesday afternoon.

The "Topping Out" ceremony commemorated a huge milestone for the hospital, the new building has reached its highest point. Three beams, signed by hospital employees and volunteers, were placed in the new addition to the hospital on the south side of the building.
